Tell Me More: Bodywork

I am currently still recovering from having my wisdom teeth extracted over the weekend, so rather than giving you shoddy content, I’d like to hear what you guys have to say on this topic!

I try to get a chiropractor out to see Val at least every quarter, and I know it makes a difference. But I know a lot of the blogging community also does a lot of body work on their own horses more in the way of equine massage. I’ve played a little with this with Val and got some faces, but I’ve been wary about doing too much since I have no clue what I’m doing.

A horse this special inevitably needs all the help he can get.

So tell me, what kind of body work do you do on your horse (if any) and where did you learn how to do so?

  1. one day i’d love to learn more about equine massage, as my horse will respond really well to anybody who has even just a single literal clue what they’re doing haha. generally tho, she gets regular chiro and acupuncture and seems to like it

  2. What I do is soften Killians mouth before every dressage ride and use “sore no more”. I also do strech his legs once in a while and also I do neck streches with the carrot. I ask my chiropractor what I could be doing after/before every ride to help improve his tight spots.. you could always ask!
